Completely Red: 1997 Score

This is a good set, I say. Maybe there's a little too much border, and maybe there are too many photos chopped off at the legs, but there's a lot of fun photos, particularly in the back half of the checklist. Score was trying their best with enjoyable cards, but the death rattle was starting to be heard. One more release, and then buh-bye. And no, anything Panini does to resurrect the brand doesn't count.

We have 551 cards in the set, and the Reds only got 14, and with two Larkins, only 13 players. These were hardly the salad days of Cincinnati baseball. Only two players in the set would eventually make the Reds HoF, and one (Davis) wasn't even on the team in '97 when this set came out. But no matter. Made the set quick and easy to complete. Now onto the Artist's Proofs, Hobby Reserve, Premium Stock, Reserve Collection, Showcase Series, and Showcase Series Artist's Proofs parallels. Ummm...maybe not.
